On day five of your 7-day Salalah adventure tour, the journey shifts from mountains to desert for one of the most unforgettable highlights of the trip.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through the Qarah Mountains, where rugged cliffs lead into vast desert landscapes. Stop at Thumrait Town, once a Bedouin hub and caravan stop on the historic frankincense trade route.
Next, step into history at the Lost City of Ubar (UNESCO World Heritage Site)—the legendary “Atlantis of the Sands.” Wander among ancient ruins that once connected southern Arabia to global trade before being hidden beneath the dunes for centuries.
By late afternoon, arrive at the Empty Quarter (Rub’ al Khali), the largest continuous sand desert in the world. Here, thrill-seekers can enjoy dune bashing, sand trekking, and climbing one of the tallest dunes to witness an awe-inspiring desert sunset.
As evening falls, settle into your private Bedouin-style tent at a desert camp. Savor traditional Omani dinner, sip Arabic coffee, and relax around the campfire as your guide shares stories of desert life. Later, gaze at the crystal-clear night sky, filled with stars—a magical experience only the Empty Quarter can offer.
